Highbury Farm is a first generation family farm of 144 acres plus additional grazing run by Peter and Yvonne Gear. Peter and Yvonne have been at Highbury Farm for 25 years. They also have two sons and a daughter. The farm is at the moment running a flock of 500 ewes which this season will be lambing March and in April. The ewes are Poll dorset/mules, mules and suffolk/cross plus twenty two easy care. The rams put to the ewes are Polldorset, charolais and suffolk. All the lambs are either grass fed on permanent pasture with clover mixtures or creep fed. The Polldorset females are kept as replacements and their fleeces are used for knitting wool and the remaining lambs are sold via farmers markets or from the farm through our coldroom/cutting room facility either as half or whole lambs for the freezer or individual cuts. Also available mince, lambburgers and mutton which is now becoming popular with the younger generation. We also provide a hog roast service. In addition we sell Sheepskin Rugs, moccasins, insoles, sheepskin dusters and sheepskin steering wheel covers and seat belt covers. If you are into spinning your own fleeces we can also provide these at shearing time. From our poll/dorset mule shearling fleeces we now have pure natural knitting wool balls and washed hanks. It is a nice soft wool plus carded sliver for spinning and felting. This year they have produced some greyish/black fleeces so we now have natural and grey wool available
